Neil also raped science and counts suicides as murders in order to push his personal agenda of gun control. That made me lose all respect for him.

Presentation counts, Tyson's comment is much more articulate than Smiths. Form trumps substance one the internet.

This isn't news. It's just a silly hit piece about a popular promoter for science education.

Hint: That's why liberals like him. He promotes science and humanism, and Carl Sagan was his mentor.

edit: I suck at words.

The mentoring that consisted of a couple of letters? I guess you didn't read the whole article http://gotnews.com/breaking-neil-degrasse-tyson-lying-close-relationship-carl-sagan/

That's interesting if true. Anyway, the guy is a science cheerleader in a society that needs science. I don't really give a fuck about his personal life.

This is an opinion article... it's not news. This is what /v/news has turned into. breitbart.com's bitch. Suppose off to newer places for actual news articles that won't smell of bias.

I'm fine with opinion articles about actual current events, but this is a non-story. It's a celebrity hit piece.

Tyson is incredibly intelligent. If you read any of his books or listened to any of his public interviews it is apparent that he is among the elite in his field. He labels himself as an educator and I personally think he's doing a great job in creating awareness in the fields of science.

Breitbart .com isn't exactly known for it's groundbreaking articles or even being a reliable news source.

Despite all his media success, Tyson insists that racism is responsible for his academic failures, alluding to sinister “forces” that keep women and ethnic minorities down.

Too bad they cannot include Bill Nye on the list, as he does not have actually a degree in science. He fills the 'stupid' category well though.

How is this news? It looks like somebody copy-pasted a hate filled rant and put it on a website hoping that because it's on the internet, readers will overlook the awful speech and join the angry mob against anything liberal or liberal media.

Its just pointing out that he is a corporate shill

For all his pontificating about climate change and the evils of guns, Tyson seems unable to grasp some basic ethical realities: for instance, that science without ethics or philosophy is likely to produce weapons and all manner of stomach-churning experiments in cloning and on babies, stem cells and animals.

And he hates philosophy

Tyson sweepingly dismisses the entire history of philosophy. Actually, he doesn't just dismiss it. He goes much further — to argue that undergraduates should actively avoid studying philosophy at all.

He proudly proclaims his irritation with "asking deep questions" that lead to a "pointless delay in your progress" in tackling "this whole big world of unknowns out there." When a scientist encounters someone inclined to think philosophically, his response should be to say, "I'm moving on, I'm leaving you behind, and you can't even cross the street because you're distracted by deep questions you've asked of yourself. I don't have time for that."

I remember seeing him at a panel with the likes of Brian Cox and Bill Nye; guy is a total ass when it comes to his peers.

Someone asked Nye a question about Mars colonization in like 50 years, and Tyson jumps in and starts rambling about how it's too costly now and impractical. Like no fucking shit, it's why they asked Nye what he thinks in 50 years.
