The prisoner is generally tied to a gun with the upper part of the small of his back resting against the muzzle. When the gun is fired, his head is seen to go straight up into the air some forty or fifty feet; the arms fly off right and left, high up in the air, and fall at, perhaps, a hundred yards distance; the legs drop to the ground beneath the muzzle of the gun; and the body is literally blown away altogether, not a vestige being seen.
Well, that's pretty gruesome.

At the time, probably not so expensive. Demoralizing as fuck? Check.

Sometimes I wonder why people spent time coming up with strange ways to kill people like this. Then I remember the members of Congress and realize we should get back to work on coming up with more.

They're quite likely pathological sadists. I can't think of an execution method, both current or historical, that seems to put the person to rest in a efficiently humane way, there's always some horror movie shit going on. I bet people like that get raging boners while watching executions...

After seeing a bunch of ISIS execution videos this stuff seems humane. I mean, at least it's quick.

It may be quick, but it's gruesome. It doesn't put a hole in you like a bullet, it explodes you into little pieces that fly all over the place.

Why not add the prisoner into the cannon itself and shoot said prisoner at something... like a wall
[–] DeltaBravoTango [S] ago
Like the circus?
[–] Amateur_Wizard ago
yeah thats what we'd tell the prisoner, too.
till it was shot at a wall, or mesh of somesort. Or a forest of katana swords

Just wondering why you were looking that up. Is that a phrase that people use?
[–] DeltaBravoTango [S] 0 points 4 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago
I had just watched a movie about a woman on death row who was executed in a gas chamber. I wondered when the US stopped using them, so I looked up execution methods on wikipedia. This was on the list.

When did quartering stop?
