So his mother was Scottish and you have people trying to ban him from the UK? Does he have citizenship there? Even if he doesn't is it ethical to permanently ban someone from their mother's native lands for temporarily banning people of a certain religion from entering a nation, while that nation tries to find some way to filter out the violent extremist who use that religions popularity as a cover to infiltrate the lands of their enemies? Especially when these violent extremists mostly kill members of their own religion, and that it doesn't do any good for the peaceful members of this religion to move to a new country if the violent extremists they're running from just follow them.

Has anyone heard of this university before?
Trump will continue with his performance of "Badass presidential candidate" and say something biting and mildly funny. Then the crowds will lose their shit and the whole little spectacle will be featured in "Trump's Top Ten Campaign Moments" slideshows on sites that utilize irrelevant thumbnail images of hot girls and a barrage of ads.

There was - relatively recently, i.e., in the 80s if I remember correctly - a heated debate within the University of Lausanne about whether or not they should rescind the honorary degree they bestowed upon Benito Mussolini - a few decades earlier - for his contribution to economics theory (if I recall - not sure about that one). I don't remember what the outcome was actually - I didn't really care at the time.
But yeah, I agree with you. For one thing, the whole idea of honorary degrees is pretty ridiculous I'd say, but once an educational institution grants one, for whatever reason, and thus decides to be somehow associated with some celebrity, they should live with the consequences. One shouldn't try to rewrite history.

Who cares, an honorary degree doesn't mean shit. They don't make nor break a man.
