Hmm. Had to have been late August or September. There's a lake reservoir about an hour away that is open to boating and swimming. My group of friends usually goes there a few times during the hotter months of the year. The water is pretty murky and algae-filled, with a thin scum of boat oil/gas on the surface if you're close to the docks, but it's got fish and is decent to swim in.

When I was a child, I lived on an Army base right across from the pool. I would usually spend all summer long there swimming and getting burnt. I sort of fell out of the habit when we moved out west and the cost became too expensive (IE - had to start paying for myself). I guess I could get a membership through work to the local indoor pool to swim laps, but it's a time thing for me, seeing as it's all the way across town. I can only have the on-site gym (which I do every morning) or cross town pool (which I can't time budget for), so the choice is the former.

I grew up near a beach, so naturlly spent a lot of time at it. After moving away from there I swam less. I'm not wild about cold water, but on hot day...last time I went swimming it was in an area with a small waterfall, and I just stood under it for a bit, letting it pound over me, then swam back out.
