This is so sad, and exactly like a ham. She should have gotten a harsher sentence, those poor families :(

I usually come here for laughs, but this one proper pissed me off. She took 2 human lives. Fucking fat inbred piece of shit.

15 months for killing someone? Really?
[–] ValkyrieHerja 0 points 10 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago
Killing two, injuring two others severely.

Yeah no booze or pills so tough to prove any wrongdoing... Probably daydreaming of milkshakes and cake. Can we make that a crime?
[–] DurinTheDeathles 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Shouldn't that make it worse? She can't claim that she wasn't aware of what was going on....

I've never been able to justify to myself the existence of causing death by careless driving as it's own crime. It's outcome based offending and that seems, to me, to be completely arbitrary.
You could have a degenerate who is drunk, high, speeding and doesn't give way at a roundabout but doesn't kill anyone and they get charged with drive without due care (probably aggravated because of the drunk, high, speeding part). On the other hand you have a decent person driving home who mis-judges an overtaking maneuver or doesn't see someone step out from behind a car and kills someone. They get drive without due care causing death.
Not trying to defend this ham but I think the "causing death" part is irrelevant. If you speed or drive drunk or drive like an idiot and you're lucky enough to not kill someone you don't deserve a lesser jail sentence just because you were lucky that nobody died.

Gross negligence is about all they'd be able to prove, which in the US would only get her convicted of manslaughter not intentional homicide (murder), and carries a much lighter sentence in general because it lacks the necessary mens rea to be worthy of the harsher sentence, apparently :/
