It's not so much an official call for investors as a couple lines in a post about statistics. The past few months have been HUGE for this site in terms of user acquisition and the admin compiled a bunch of stats. The post mentioned the possibility of a kickstarter as well as asking sort of tongue-in-cheek if anyone knows any rich friends. Here's the post

Thanks. From that post:

As you may have already noticed, voat has no ads and as such it does not make any money. We are currently looking for investors and we may also be starting a kickstarter campaign to raise some money to help us get through the first year. If you know a rich person who can realize the potential of voat, please hook us up.

That seems like only a half-joking comment reaching for some serious inquires. Hopefully an admin can weigh in here, and that owners of this site have access to better income alternatives than this. Community-driven Kickstarter campaigns, sure, but individual investors would expect some level of absolute control over the site in a tit for tat "we give you money, you let us control the community" agreement. I'm sure Reddit Corp never succumbed to that sort of thing. Absolutely sure.

Edit: more words, etc

Right. That's why a voluntary sub would save the site from ads and let the users choose to use their online purchases to help generate revenue. No ads site-wide but hopefully we can generate revenue to avoid investors. I'm just afraid if we can't cover expenses ourselves (reddit couldn't do it and they do have site-wide ads) we will eventually fall into some of the same mess they did.
