Hurricanes, which bring flooding, wind damage, and mudslides, all of which could destroy the agricultural and fishing industries in a day.

Where I live though science and medicine are the biggest employers so we just need power (If you live in America you may have heard about our "terrible" coal ash river spill. It just simply was not that bad.) and clear roads.

I would say a direct strike from an asteroid, but that doesn't fit your criterion for plausible.

I would say Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, but that doesn't fit your criterion for a natural disaster.

Given a choice between the two, I'd rather be hit with the asteroid.

Mother of God! Well, hurricanes. Florida coast. But there are signs up about tsunami along the beaches: if there's an earthquake best get moving. And twenty miles from here there's a seventies vintage nukie on a barrier island. Could have a real action drama.

New Jersey, so blizzard or heat wave depending on season. In Atlantic City it would be hurricanes, but I live far enough from the shore that a hurricane won't be a big deal.
