I'd already been looking for a new place in light of the numerous examples of censorship from mods and admins alike.
When they decided to start overtly nuking stories about Ellen Pao that were hitting the frontpage, I decided it was time to move on immediately. Voat doesn't quite have the critical mass yet but given that the discussions I have had on here have been much more thoughtful than most of any I ever had on reddit, I'm happy to just call it quality over quantity.
Got tired of so much censorship and propagandic bs. 95% of the posts that hit the frontpage in the last year were OP's first and last times they posted on that account. I still visit /r/conspiracy daily. It's the only thing I go to reddit nowadays.

Last summer I started to hate reddit, but I've just been waiting for another site to gain critical mass. When Digg went down, reddit was already there. It's somewhat perturbing that there aren't any competitive alternatives to reddit, but voat is almost there. Just needs a little more activity.

Right now activity is being limited. Each user can only submit 5 submissions every 24 hours. And after every comment you have to wait 2 minutes.

Is this so the server doesn't explode, or something? I can't think of a good reason for that...
