They are still making money, just not as much as they want.... they should close up and someone else will eventually step in and get the business and be happy with the lower profits. But with so many Americans in poor health and a lot going a decade or more without coverage... did they really have high hopes for the first few years? I don't see it getting any better until at least 5 years. But so much greed in every corner of healthcare, we are more likely just screwed no matter if ACA is ever repealed or not.

No, they're making money in other areas; very few companies want to stay in markets that doing nothing but make losses multiple years in a row and this is a sign there's no profit in sight on the exchanges. We've already seen other companies spike their rates and reduce their coverage just to keep their heads above water, so getting out may just be the more honest option.
