So there's this 'phenomenon' (I guess you could call it that) in board gaming called "the cult of the new". Basically it describes people who jump on the hype train of a brand new game and when the game comes out they get bored quickly and repeat the process with the next big thing. And this is what NeoGaf is all about, its the cult of the new for video games. You see them do it all the time, the hype builds around a certain game, the OT goes up, people say stupid shit like "omg all over my face" and within a week they are tearing the game down and complaining about the cognitive dissonance in Uncharted/Bioshock/Tomb Raider/Minecraft or how the previous game (that they all fucking hated at the time) is suddenly an overlooked gem.
NeoGaf doesn't play video games. It just talks shit about them. Even its most prominent mods would much rather talk about idenity politics than video games.

I tend to obsess over games right until I buy them, and then I look for the next thing. I don't understand why. It's pathetic.
Wow. Big business has this guy EXACTLY where they want him. At least he acknowledges that it's a pathetic habit to have, but he should be trying to break that habit.

That was obvious, these people played games in the past but grew tired of them, now they want to use games to make easy money. See all the parasites in the game studies, the game critics, the collectives. All upper middle class assholes doing nothing in their lives.

They don't play games, they just get off on telling people which games they should be enjoying and why games they like are problematic. I hope marketers read this shit and quickly learn that advertising to a bunch of broke ass NEETs who really just want to nit pick games and trash their developers

"I'll play video games maybe 2/3 hours every couple of weeks"
Well this is why you get those statistics with women playing more/around the same as men. Those never ask amount of time, just Y/N. You can't really compare people who play everyday or even every weekend to these.

I don't play games, but DAE thinks TLOU is the best game ever?
