If you don't want democracy to be for sale stop selling democracy, it's that simple. Everyone hates Citizens United, but the reason politicians need campaign contributions is because campaign ads buy votes. If people would stop voting based on commercials, then politician's wouldn't need to pay for commercials. The solution is not "restrict the amount of commercials a contributor can pay for".
