Good for them. See they don't need the US. The US in syria reminds me of a coworker. Hang around, do a marginal amount of the work, once the mission is done claim that you deserve a stake. We aren't really fighting ISIS. We should stop all involvement and stop funding ISIS and fighting ISIS and just let the Russians and Syrians take care of the problem. They are up for the job and it is actually their land.

Honestly, what do the 'moderate opposition' defenders expect will happen when Assad and the Syrian Army are gone? That all those fighting groups will just come together and form a peaceful, democratic government? Yea that worked really well in Libya. Shit, even western democracies have internal fights on a regular basis and they aren't armed militias.

The best solution is to let Assad gain control over most of Syria again, have him step down permanently after that and hold elections in a state with a functioning army, air force and political infrastructure. That's how it is supposed to go.
