I supported my argument with historical documents, facts and peer reviewed journals.

They hate it when you do that

I received my shadowban in the days following the blackout for hitting the front page with Pepperidge Farm meme criticising the admins' decision to remove the up/down vote tallys for comments (which had happened about a year prior at that point).

Called for unilateral boycott of companies sponsoring FIFA. Resulted in insta-ban from /r/sports

Never got banned but I did ban them from any if my devices.

Best reason for that? I'm not going to kiss anyone's ass. If a particular user is such an expert in say the Documentaries section, I want to see their masterfully crafted work. If they don't have any then perhaps they can suck a dick so the rest of us can discuss the film that was posted in a little peace and quiet.

I like to glance at r/all periodically. It's useful to keep up with what propaganda is being shoved down the majority's throats.

Then at least you have a vague ballpark for where things are going.

I already have a specific enough ballpark for where it's going...directly into the toilet. That's why I stay away from them. It's become one of the most toxic places to go. I do have to make maybe one exception and I say maybe for a couple of reasons. r/Arduino was particularly helpful but watch your terminology. You call an arduino board clone a "knock off" and some get really really butthurt over it.

I published a list of elected officials in congress and senate next to the amount of money they took. From the private prison corporations in return for their votes enacting harsher sentencing laws against their constituents. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31196167/Private_Prisons_to_113th.xlsx I also set off a White House petition trying to change the 13th amendment of the U.S. Constitution and abolish slave labor in all forms even if the person has been convicted of committing a crime. I was permanently banned from r/politics in 5 minutes.

I made a fat people subreddit about 2 years before the fattening. In actuality, it was to make fun of the phat rappers.

Open dialogue. I like going on mental walkabouts wherever they may lead. Plus, social stuff like gender and dating behavior is an interest of mine. On Reddit, you get downvoted for saying anything other than "you're correct, i agree with whatever nonsense your saying."

Okay lol to be a bit more serious though I think you're making a great point. Reddit with its current model of communication is creating docile yes-men that are either too afraid or too lazy to type up a long, coherent argument.

The quality of posts on the site are becoming (or have been for a while now) really shitty, especially the more popular the subreddits are. It's somewhat unavoidable, but if I had a nickel for every time I made a gigantic post about something, and somebody either didn't read it correctly or deliberately took something I said out of context to be an offended prick, I'd be rich. It's getting more to be like facebook, where people don't continue or start a debate/argument to learn and develop discussion, it's just to one-up people and have their little "gotcha" moment in the spotlight where they can collect karma.

Exactly. I was/am getting tired of saying something as simple as "i like roses, not as much as tulips, but i like them." only to get replies about how I'm an idiot for liking sunflowers instead of tulips.

I'm often confused. It's like arguing with my ex, at a certain point I'm not arguing about what i said but what they heard and likely just using any excuse to argue their point regardless of what i say.
