I fly recreationally. During flight school k was taught to assume everyone weighs 200lbs unless I know how hunch they weight. In a small fucking airplane 100-200lbs matters. Especially on a hot day at a higher altitude airport. You fucking die if the center of gravity is wrong. You fucking die if the plane won't climb. And you won't know it won't climb until you're out of ground effect.

As I seriously value my life, I would have been the first to volunteer to stay behind. I refuse to go down in a jet full of fatties. I'd have been so stressed out that any little bit of turbulence would have me shrieking in terror. I am not a nervous flyer at all under normal circumstances.

On the other hand, if you crash into the ocean, don't the fat fucks make useful floation devices?

As much as I feel bad for you, this is a good thing. Stuff like this needs to happen more often. The only way that we're going to make progress against these things is if regular, normal-sized people start becoming directly affected by them on a regular basis. It's hard to get people riled up about the extra money that obesity costs the healthcare system but much easier to get them pissed off about how butter golems made them miss a connecting flight.

I'm done with flying because of this. Too many fat fucks you have to be seated next to. It's torture.

If I have to fly there it's not worth going anymore.

I'm sorry this happened to you but..

IT'S HAPPENING.

Flights are increasingly getting too heavy to get off the ground.

This was from 2007:

Attempts have been made to introduce on-board weight and balance system, which effectively weighed the aircraft through transducers in the landing gear. It is not easy to get these to work well in line operations, however, and in actual use it was found that they, with the uncertainties considered, tended to restrict the operators more than traditionally calculated mass properties. Thus, they are a rarity today even if there is an ongoing effort to get operationally feasible systems designed.

so presumably we still guess (edit, wrong word... estimate) at the moment (with only a few airlines weighing passengers).

Weighing at check-in is around the corner, I can feel it.

"ma'am step on the platform please."

Praise Diabetes-jesus! No reason they should pay the same fare to haul what is equivalent to four humans!

Thin privilege is not being over the weight a JET ENGINE can carry! #HAES

That's the worst, hams on airplanes stinking the place up makes me glad I don't fly that much. Congrats on getting married though :D

It should be mandatory to have a shower (use a rag on a stick if you can't reach your crack you disgusting blimp monster) and wear clean clothes any time you are required to go on public transport.
