Of course they are. Idiots don't admit they are wrong when faced with truth or facts; they double-down on their shitty ideas instead. Just look at most politicians.

So they're arguing that he's a good person for not molesting a child, when the only thing that kept him from molesting a child was the fact that the "girl" was actually a police officer? This guy knew what he was doing, and needs to be kept from acting on his impulses. Maybe the author would feel differently if it was their child taking to a pedo.

Difference is we as a society say that being a homosexual is ok as it involves two consenting adults. Two people who have equal control and power over their own lives, equal to the rights of heterosexual couples because of this. As marriage is "just a thing that you do" as a couple, courts found that gays have this right just the same as straight couples.
The "protected class" comes with the fact that many people don't fall into accepting the above and Govt. is going to step with laws to ensure this happens. This may be govt. overreach, but that is not the point of discussion.
This is not relevant to discussion of pedos here or in any other rational conversation.

B-but the left told me the slippery slope is a fallacy!
I'm surprised only on one thing; I figured they'd be shilling for the rights of zoophiles first. I guess cat lady liberals care more about animals than children though.

Nah, they probably just think they need to cover their human bases first. Don't want to be distracted with "Why are you concerned about that dogfucker when it's against the law to fuck my eight-year old daughter?", now would we?

"How would you feel if all you wanted to do was murder somebody, but you couldn't. What would you do if the only thing that could arouse you was tasting the blood of your enemies? How would you feel then?"
Like a normal fucking human who isn't a monster. Thanks.

Yup, but you will be lambasted for even having this position, at least in Murica. I think in some cases it is an illness, and in others people are born that way. It sucks that we can't really have a conversation about this in most places, due to the stigma.

Exactly. Any pedo that can't control themselves is a danger; they can bullshit all they want about loss of control: they're plain weak.

With all the "kill them all" bullshit, there is a point that seems to be missed here: These people exist. They are in your community and possibly your family. We cannot and will not murder people because there is something fucked up in their sexuality that makes children attractive to them. It is also impossible to segregate them all for multiple reasons.
Personally, paedophiles disgust me. I am pretty uncomfortable with mental illness as a whole, but this is a flavor that is especially bitter.
That being said, having to admit that these people exist and are not criminals until they act on their urges is beyond positive, it is absolutely necessary in order to: 1. Gain funding in order to establish programs that effectively research and treat the problem 2. Get the word out that if this is you, here is where you can get help.
This is a product of a diseased mind. We are not a people that euthanize because of disease.
It is fucking hard to humanise people who have a disposition to act in such a horrific way, but it is NECESSARY in order to establish programs and awareness. It is necessary in order to promote voluntary enrolment in treatment. The status quo produces criminals and raped children. The least distasteful option is pretty clear to me.
