Wtf, as if nuts have gluten in them. This whole gluten free fad has gone too far. I'm really happy for people who have Celiac's disease who now have many more food options than they had before, but a line has to be drawn somewhere in the sand.
The "free from" aisle in the supermarkets in the UK now just seems to mean gluten-free. The dairy-free shelf space is being shrunk in favour of gluten-free biscuits, cakes, breakfast cereals and other completely unnecessary and nutritionally void stuff. Personally I buy gluten by the kilo and add it to stuff. But I can only buy it online, my health food store used to stock it but it has gone recently. I bet they had loads of people go up to them and say, "how can you stock this in a health food store? It's poison, you know ...".
Why is diabetes always used? I've had type one diabetes since I was 9 y/o and obviously that not weight related. I wish they'd have a different name for type two.
But I love this story can't wait for more! What's with the whole nuts thing though... Maybe get unsalted ones like???
