Yep! So much for society caring for men more than women, like some like to claim... It's approaching 3 per 100k for girls, so sound the alarms... 12 per 100k for boys (QUADRUPLE the girl's rate), well who cares.

From the article, it sounds more like a difference in types of suicide (more lethal means), rather than number of attempts. Traditionally, males have used more violent means of suicide than females, leading to a higher "success" rate.

It depends.

Example: males tend to be more impulsive, hence the greater proclivity for violent methods. But, if anything, that implies a greater ratio of success vs will to die, since there is less time to consider it, rather than greater determination to die.

Not enough data to say one way or the other for women.

Upvote for a thoughtful and honest post.

Edit: at least from my pov.

I upvoted him too mostly for contributing to counterbalance the downvotes. People on here seem to go into a blind rage at any indication that suggests women are persecuted in any way. They see some examples of extreme feminism and take the opposing side and ignoring the fact that at times, yes women do actually get the short end of the stick.
