We all knew that Turkey was hosting millions of Syrians.
But this, if true, show that they're doing it because the refugees are political pawns.
Theyre doing it because the countries surrounding syria who are not turning them back somehow have all taken in 100,000's if not nigh on 2 million in turkeys case. Its Jordan, its Lebanon, its Turkey, its Iraq too i guess, but i didnt see numbers on them, i guess theyre not even counting given theyre probably not sitting at that border with clipboards, they'd need big guns instead to be near the syrian border right now.

Ok guys, back up, i got this.
The op is a little mixed up. Let me untangle.
Turkey is getting 3bn from Europe to keep refugees in Turkey
This will save money, another voater did a napkin doodle analysis of projected costs of the continued/expanding migrant crisis and it ran into 10's of billion euro a year.
in exchange for visa liberalization into the Schengen zone
In exchange for moving forward on proposed EU membership. I am not sure how much movement they will get on this, its pretty controversial. And its not straight away free movement into the schengen zone if they do, this takes years after becoming an EU member. I.e Poland joined the EU in 2004 and got schengen in 2007.
meaning Turks will be able to freely enter Europe without having to show documentation.
If they go by sea, or sky, and to be honest unless they have teleportation technology already, they're gonna be showing documentation, and if they are not Turk passport holders they aren't getting that boat/plane.
So now all the refugees in Turkey will simply be able to walk into Europe unobstructed. It will result in MORE migrants entering Europe.
See above. On balance, this will reduce the impact of the immigration crisis on europe. Though softening europe borders with turkey in this way could be problematic in itself, i dont like the idea. But right now, illegal immigration is a bigger and less regulated concern.
This must have been foreseen. There's no way out diplomats are this stupid. This is all being done deliberately.
No there is no way our diplomats are this stupid, although someone else might be, no disrespect intended :)

Even if the violence isn't being sensationalized, and I fully believe it is due to the re-branding of refugees to 'migrants', I don't see it being as big of a problem in the US. Thanks to the second amendment, we don't rely on police for protection in our own homes as much as Europeans do.

Don't sell them short, they never cease to stoop to new lows.
