Whichever was the first in this current deluge of post-apocalyptic/dystopian teen romance books. The Hunger Games?

I think the supernatural teen rom/drams are worse.

But those were based on Twilight, which was bad.

Iron Man. Fine enough, but brought on the "beancounter's immersion" of mandatory cameo crossovers and a deluge of watered-down samey-ness.

Bram Stoker's Dracula. It is amazing, but everyone wanted to copy it. Fun fact - Vampires prior to Bram did not have fangs, they used to have to make an incision with something else to let the blood flow.

they also were more like ADD zombies. Bram Stoker's work and also Varney the Vampire are held as the origins of the "Victorian Vampire" archetype.

Varney actually predates Dracula, but didn't have as good of marketing.

Anne Rice's Vampire books. Pretty sure Twilight wouldn't have happened if Meyers hadn't been influenced by Rice.
