If he wanted to be safe he would've rode in a sedan going the speed limit. You don't get top-tier performance with a heavy, sturdy frame. Some sacrifices are made in sports cars and the owners know they're riding in death traps.
This is not a case where the manufacturer ignored a fatal flaw like a Ford Pinto getting rear-ended and bursting into flames or a GM ignition switch faulting and disabling the airbags. Those are worthy of lawsuits because they recklessly endanger people operating the vehicle normally and the companies avoided telling anyone because of costly recalls.

In a car illegally going way, way, way over the speed limit on public roads not designed for high speeds or race cars, yep, totally not his own fault.
