The first thing that I thought of was Bioshock Infinite. The story and gameplay existed. That's about all I can give for those. Every single review though, every single one praised it for being this amazing piece of work and acted like the story was so amazing. The DLC for it was even worse, and the reviews that I saw for the burial at sea pieces were even worse.

I HATED Bioshock Infinite's dlc endings, it was total crap imo. Destiny could be called Disappointment: The Game.
DS3. What a steaming pile of puke. Maybe if you spent just a little more time polishing it, you'd make way more money. Whats the hurry to rush to market? It's riskier, and it doesn't always pay off. But delivering a quality game, that's polished and ready, that almost always pays off tenfold..........unless it's just crap which is probably why they rushed and didn't polish.

Wait, Dark Souls 3?

Probably the walking dead game. I played it, found it boring, but i do know people that enjoyed it.
The number of reviews calling it the best game ever tho, I was sort of expecting to open and have Jesus pop out of the screen and bless me.

The fucking Souls series - and I say that as a fan of the games. So many reviewers spend so much time taking potshots at other - just as fun series (TES is a big favorite for DS reviewers to 'jerk against)

To be fair it's rare to find a game that manages to balance gameplay, story, and RPG elements as well as the Souls games do.
Elder scrolls is the only other game that gets it somewhat right and even then the story/gameplay in Skyrim was piss poor without mods.

As much as I'll be downvoted for saying this: any Half Life game.
I've played games with better silent protagonists that have more character.
