They overfeed them until they look like this. And no, they don't get called out on it. In fact, there's an entire "movement" to legitimize it; it's called HAES.
Suspect that is the case here too. We bought a house and realized there was a lock on the outside of one of the child bedrooms. When asking the neighbors if they had a son or second child, nope. Only one child anyone knew of.
Still no idea what they would be trying to keep in the bedroom.

The parent's definitely didn't handle this the best way, but I try to reserve judgement on parents until I hear both sides of the story. A lot of parents of children with severe autism are in way over their heads. I've worked with guys who literally hit themselves in the head until they went blind, bit chunks of flesh out of someone else or broke someone's hands. I remember one guy who had to have 2 state troopers bring him back to the facility everytime he went home because he'd beat up his parents so badly. These are very very extreme cases, but just saying sometimes parents don't want to send there kid away but are utterly unequipped to handle them.

A mother letting her five year old daughter jump up and down while inside of a shopping cart. The child lost her balance and fell out and hit the ground head first. It made a loud sound like someone punching a watermelon.
No fucks were given in the grocery store that day.

I agree with this statment but might I ask, in your opinion is it because they wold be a burden to sociaty or its the only humane way or something else?
I used to judge this behavior too. Then I had kids. To be clear, my kids don't throw fits in stores. But that isn't because of my awesome parenting techniques. Its because I am lucky on that front. My kids act out in other ways. And I deal with those as rationally as possible. But when I realized that those parents are super embarrassed and that we have no way of knowing what is going on in their lives I developed a much larger sense of empathy for them.

My sister, who was 17 at the time, started looking up to me as a kind of father figure after my dad left my mom, I was keeping the bills payed and keeping her out of trouble so I kind of took up the job I guess
