Haha well funnily enough I was doing some reading about Argentina because I am playing a game of Europa Universalis 4 (I dunno if you're familiar with it, basically you lead a country and fight wars, expand, etc. from 1444 to 1821) and wanted to see how ahistorical my game had gotten. It turns out, VERY ahistorical! Brazil, Colombia and Rio de la Plata (Argentina, for the sake of non-Argentinians who might read this) were all Portuguese colonies in my game and teamed up against Portugal to all get independence in 1650 or so and now Brazil are colonising the west coast of the US and Rio de la Plata declared me (I am playing as Ottoman Empire) as their rivals! So I was reading the actual history of Argentina and it's quite different to that!

It's really different, but I could see how if either Spain or Portugal hadn't travelled to the new world, the other would've taken all of South America. That part about independence in 1650 is kind of early, America got it in 1776 and most of LatAm after 1800, but it's a game.
How did they declare you as their rivals? The Ottomans weren't near the Americas, or did you get there on boat so you're near enough to threaten them? Also, how did that work out for you and the "LatAm Federation"?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Britain screwed Portugal over and wouldn't honour their alliance so they had to fight most of SA on their own. Cusco (Incans) pretty much still hold most of the west of SA too, I'm not sure how they've managed to hold their land for so long (it's about 1710). I think Argentina declared me rivals because I was sending colonists to Canada, so I was within range for them to know about. So far they have embargoed me but no wars!

Pele > Maradona.
Just kidding. I actually don't like soccer. Nice to see a fellow south american around here. I have to say: your beef and potatoes have some evil magic in then... went to Buenos Aires and that's all I had.
Now let's talk about that Cisplatina deal...

I love our beef it's good, but after hearing it's one of the best in the world, I want to try beef from some other country and compare. It kind of blows me mind, how bad is your beef that Argentina is beating you at it?
And about Cisplatina, Argentines thought Uruguay would make an union with them, but once we gave them enough "free thought", they ran off. Sometimes they come back asking for yerba mate, they aren't the 24th province for anything you know.
