Everyone knows vaccinations do not cause autism. It is the mercury inside the vaccines that causes autism. The ADA and the federal government will not let you use mercury in teeth fillings because it is toxic to humans. Can't fill your teeth with it but you can for sure inject it into your child's bloodstream.

Wait, OP actually believes this garbage? I thought this was posted up here to make fun of Trump, not support him. sigh.

It's neither, Trump didn't actually say vaccines cause autism and you'd know that if you read the article, lets not turn into Reddit 2.0 too quickly. Edit to further expand: The Independent if you're not completely familiar with them are a very political far-left website and articles like this where they take quotes that sound vaguely like the point they want to make then create a false narrative based on it. I'm not saying never trust them - but never trust them when it comes to politics anymore than you would trust Stormfront for Jewish news or Guardian for feminist news.

Firstly, the "mercury inside the vaccines" is thiomersal, secondly, it doesn't cause autism.
If you're worried about thiomersal because it has mercury, then you should be worried about table salt because it contains chlorine. Thiomersal is toxic, which is why is an effective disinfectant and preservative, so you don't exactly want to fill your body with it any more than you would, say, formaldehyde.
But in case you missed it the first time, vaccines don't cause autism, and thiomersol doesn't cause autism.
Everyone likes to downvoat the OP and not the content of the story. To set things straight, I don't know what causes autism. I just posted this funny story I found on the Independent.UK. I do know, that we should not assume we know everything. We should follow any and all leads to find cures and treatments. Keep the book open on this .. just in case. Personally I would think the place to look for clues would be prenatal treatments. Vitamins and the like. I DO know one thing for certain /u/PIcasso54 is a complete asshole for making fun of the autistic. I am sure PIcasso54 does not know anyone with autism and how a diagnosis of autism can impact a families life. It seems to be a new trend for people to call other people autistic as an insult. So yeah /u/PIcasso54 I hope you mom gets cancer.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you that bad. I thought my joke was clever and expected a clever argument based reply in response. I understand that Autism is a serious condition and hopefully in the coming years we can find a solid cure. From the title of the post I thought you were a progressive college student from Reddit university here to spread the complete and utter bullshit that Trump directly linked vaccinations to autism.

When will this myth die? Not only has it been debunked many times, even the authors of the original study have admitted it was experimental error. If you don't vaccinate your kids, you're ruining herd immunity. One unvaccinated kid sparked a measels outbreak. Not to mention you're increasing the likelihood your child himself will die.
If you don't vaccinate your kid you are a paranoid selfish fuckwad who's endangering not only the life of your child but the lives of everyone else, all because you want to deny heaps and heaps of scientific evidence. I hope you get smallpox and die.

perhaps we have an "increase" in autism due to diagnostic advancements...
you could say "150 years ago nobody was diagnosed with autism!" and you wouldn't be wrong, but it doesn't mean there weren't autistic people.

i was under the impression that the medical community was pretty much in agreement that it was genetic.
i could be completely mistaken, though. wouldn't be the first time.

He did not directly say that. He said that autism is an epidemic (which it is), and that he had personally seen a child get pumped full of vaccines as a baby, and that the kid grew up to be autistic. He never said "vaccines are causing an autism epidemic". Even Dr. Carson and Dr. Paul agreed with him that the number of vaccines given is too damn high too quickly, but clarified that there is no link between vaccines and autism. Trump was in over his head there, but he handled it well.
Clickbait title.

I just don't understand how people can make the argument that vaccines are 100% undoubtedly safe, but then also say there's "too many" and "too much at once". If they're 100% safe then why is there now suddenly an agreed upon dangerous amount?

Thanks for this. Downgoated the article.

Why mention the vaccinations at all then? He is clearly using anecdotal evidence in claiming that autism formed after vaccinations.
I'm sorry but mentioning autism and vaccinations in the same context is still incredibly unintelligent and possibly dangerous.
We've just begun understanding autism and unsurprisingly theres no 100% sure way to diagnose it as its a sliding scale of social disfunction.
The fact that someone is trying to link a very well known viral mechanism to something we have no idea what the fuck causes it is just plain and simple wrong.
There's nothing else to argue about it
