Yea, I never got why people want to try and argue the point. Tell me that it's a social construct and I'll show you the genes in the DNA for Native Americans that cause lactose intolerance.

Now CULTURE on the other hand, much more a social contrast.

The reason why Race is a social construct is that it's not done according to genetic analysis, it's done purely by superficial identifiers. Not all blacks are genetically identical, or anyone of any "race". The genetic difference between individuals of one race is larger than the group differences between races, and the racial grouping is rather arbitrary, for example, the fluid definition of "white" which depending on context, could include, or exclude jewish, or portugese, or whatever, depending on who is defining what is white or not. Similarly, the one drop rule makes someone who is 25% black, considered "black". If you think that racial differences = genetic differences, then let's just drop the race thing and talk about the particular genetic difference, which may exist in people of different "races" but with different frequencies.

I think when people say "race is a social construct," it's either shorthand for "introducing race into scenarios which should be race-invariant is a social rather than innate reaction,"[1] or "people's perception of race is created primarily by social factors rather than by genuine attributes of the given race,"[2] of if not, then probably "phear my leet SJWness!"[3]

  • [1] aka "people can act like fools"
  • [2] aka "people can easily make fools of themselves"
  • [3] aka "do you want fries with that?"
