Yes we should legalize everything that can be labeled a personal choice and has no effect on any body else. Want to commit suicide while blowing cocaine down, and properly paying for a hooker? Go for it.

Getting rid of the black market, which is basically all illegal non- violent services/contraband would solve three things.

Less impurities in drugs since they would have to be regulated. No more rat poison in heroin, no more laxative in cocaine etc....

Second no more money going to criminals who support human trafficking, weapon trafficking, and out right murders. Also to add to point two, if prostitution is legal you get rid of the majority of human trafficking most likely.

Third you free up numerous people who are non-violent criminals, who may contribute to society in some way; instead of living off of our tax dollars watching their youth dwindle.

So I would argue having drugs illegal actually effects more people than having all drugs be legal.

Heroin is definitely not healthier than alcohol. Shit is like shooting acid into your viens.

First, you provided no link to your study or what the hell the Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs is, so please follow your own request next time. If there is actual non biased well proven research that alcohol is more harmful than heroin then I would love to read this and would be truly shocked. After looking into this I found that the study was basically a ruse to raise awareness of alcoholism and while alcohol is definitely dangerous you'd have to be fucking nuts to think drinking is worse than shooting or snorting a drug as powerful as heroin. It doesn't seem like you've seen a full blown heroin addict in real life but when you do you'll understand just how bad that shit is for you.

Here are a few lines from your article (or one talking about it) that disproves the study they did and the chairman admitting it. Please read next time and don't spread false or misleading information about hardcore drugs.

Professor David Nutt, chairman of the ISCD, whose work was published in the Lancet medical journal, said the findings showed that "aggressively targeting alcohol harms is a valid and necessary public health strategy." He said they also showed that current drug classification systems had little relation to the evidence of harm.

Maybe generalized opiates are safer, but heroin?

heroin is definitely not safer. You really need to do more reading.

i mean I think there should be at least the same standards across the board. I don't know where the line is but I think that it should be the same across things whether they've been around a while or not.

edit: and how do you decide heroin is less harmful than alcohol? This is a bit of a straw-man argument.
