That all depends on your definition of success. As long as Voat provides people with a platform to discuss anything they feel like and manages to avoid most of the larger faults that reddit and other sites have it can be considered a success. As long as people keep participating, keep discussing, keep posting threads, I don't see how it can be considered a failure.
It may never become as large or as financially successful as reddit, but the reddit model is one with serious flaws. As the years go by, these flaws will become more and more evident.

I think the quality of reddit content will gradually decline, with the number of visitors declining after that. I expect reddit to plunge into a dark age of bad content. The future of Voat however looks pretty bright :)
