These 'flaws' are built into the OS by the 'people who care about you' for 'safety'.

Probably a great help to satellite receiver hackers and for hacking other devices to do what the owner wants.

The company I work for used VXworks in our devices (copiers and printers) up till a couple of years ago. There are still lots of those devices out there. I never messed with them but I wonder if port 111 is open on those devices. I'll have to try on Monday.

I dunno, fuzzing, integer overflow, port 111. Sounds like enough info to figure out the exploit yourself if you ask me. I wonder how many home routers this will affect. I remember a lot of Linksys used VxWorks as the OS in lower tier models due to its small footprint, wouldn't be surprised if this was common practice across the board.

did you read the article or are you just retarded?

"This led to the discovery of what’s generally known as an integer overflow vulnerability, which allowed him to target a particular part of the operating system and write to memory on the machine running VxWorks. From there, it was possible to set up a backdoor account and control features of the OS, Formaggio claimed. “It’s a very basic vulnerability,” he added. An attacker must find targets with a certain port (port 111) open, but when they did; the exploit code could run without any interaction from the user. In other words, a silent & (possibly even a) deadly attack."
