Should the US develop its own offensive cyber capabilities as a deterrent?
seriously? seriously??
The US has been pouring tens of billions of dollars into offensive e-warfare for decades and that effort has intensified significantly under the Obama administration.

What are the computers that launch the nukes connected to the Internet? That would be foolish beyond all comprehension. If not, then who cares?

Meh... the hackers have nothing on us. Our entire nuclear arsenal was offline for a contiguous 12 hour block of time in 2014 because we were too slow getting paperwork signed to re-up the hardware coverage on a key system that went down. I watched that mess unfold. The amount of brass that shows up in a situation like that, thinking it can just make shit magically happen, when they are the ones who screwed us in the first place, is staggering.

Hmm. So when my bosses insist that major system migrations be performed with zero prep, zero notification, zero budget and zero accountability from them when it collapses, they're not even the biggest idiots on earth like I've been saying.
They could be the idiots doing it to the nuclear warhead infrastructure. Great.
I can't imagine fighting about accountability and me and the computers not respecting their authority when the boss is the guy who pushes the red button. God help us.

Is the US hiring enough people now for their nuclear programs? I read somewhere budget cuts were causing problems.
