If Google, with HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS and best programmers on the planet, can't do it, you can't.

FB isn't popular because it's good. It's popular because it's basically a monopoly. People are on it because their friends are on it. People don't want to juggle multiple social networking profiles, they just wanna be on the one everyone else is.

FB was the right website, with the right implementation, at the right time. It was largely just luck.

You'd be much better off trying to build a different type of site.

The way I see it, you have two options:

1-Learn to code

2-hire someone else, maybe someone here can offer a reputable place to find connections?

A couple of years back I too had a similar idea and at the time I had basic html and css knowledge. Over the following months I learned how to code web apps by watching YouTube tutorial playlists.

I recommend that you learn php. I also recommend that you progress onto learning Laravel. Laravel helps you quickly create web apps. What used to take me a month writing code from scratch with php takes me a weekend using the Laravel php framework.

If you are genuinely interested in this topic then let me know and I will share my knowledge bank of free learning materials on YouTube, and ebooks.

Your first web app idea could take you on a path to create the next Facebook. Stay positive and creative.

Learn to code and hire some gullible college kids that need some quick cash, then piece together the shitty code that they end up writing.

Plan on it sucking at first. More of a proof of concept. If it's a good concept, it will work. If it does work, quickly make the code and backend as robust as possible.

I'm just commenting to be a part of this thread incase your idea takes off. It would be a great story for the grandkids.
