The grumpy old lady I work with sometimes would know I think she's a grumpy old lady. Other than that, I think everyone knows where they stand with me.

I'd lose all but one of my friends. My wife would be very upset, but we could work through it.

Oh man.... Luckily me and Dad don't have a great relationship to begin with.

I think the better question is: How long do you have to live?

Everything I've ever said about someone was said objectively, usually because of some kind of decision on my part on how they would influence something.

Like if a guy was impulsive, or was an asshole. Usually, I'll tell them what I said about them to their face at a later time.

Doing anything out of spite just seems like a waste of time and energy, including talking bad about people. When I do it, it's to accomplish something or to prevent a future problem. Almost everything I've said about someone is already known to those people, and they expect both honesty and respect out of me. I'm also pretty quick to praise someone for the good they do, and they like the balanced honesty.

....Except about my mother. She would probably hunt me down and kill me for some of the things I have said about her.

Probably some old fraternity brothers would be hit the hardest. But that's mainly because they're assholes who take everything personally and think everyone should acknowledge their existence anytime they walk in the room. I've said some pretty mean shit about some of those guys. I wouldn't care if our relationship was damaged because there wasn't much of one to begin with. I'd be okay if I never saw them or talked to them again.

I can't really say how my relationship with close family or friends would be damaged much because I feel like the negative stuff I talk about behind their backs, I'd have no problem saying to their faces, most of the time.

I actually try to exercise tact in most situations and often hold my tongue. But it is precisely because of that that I have the same basic answer as you. I do not think my relationships would change much at all because the files would be fairly empty. Comments made about people while not in their presence would most likely be things they themselves would agree with.
