I currently have 228 books on my kindle.
They're also nice for backpacking and camping as you can travel with a multitude of books and with data turned off on my kindle it can work for a couple of weeks.
My friend bought his kindle recently for 69 bucks. I still use my second generation kindle. I love it very much. It makes traveling so much easier. It's one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given. I like that I can download any book from amazon. I think they even have some kind of amazon pro subscription system. My local library has an E-book system and I also know that piracy is a big form of people getting ahold of these books. I may not agree with it but it's there.

Did you try it?
It also has a great battery life, you can read all day, every day, for weeks before have to recharge. With a phone or tablet after a few hours battery will be dead.
They are also quite cheap these days.

LED screens have a backlight flashing in your face at all times. This contributes to eye strain and alters the reading experience significantly - particularly for longer periods.
e-ink is designed to replicate paper and the light is reflected. it feels exactly like reading a book. That is the key distinction. I'd wager it's almost an intelligence test if you can't tell the difference.
