Yes, I've been feeling that too. Reddit is Python, which gives me a much warmer feeling as a langauge for FOSS. We can not trust MS they have prove that soooo many times now. They have been "new Microsoft" sooo many times. It's been "different this time" sooo many times.
But I don't like Java either. I like C and Python (CPython). They are simple to debug and I feel I can know their guts. Python is fast to write, C is fast to run. Java and C# are massive "clever" VMs you are not meant to go into.
The site being written in C# definitely isn't the most opportune language for an open source website, but it isn't as bad as it used to be since Microsoft is beginning to release the source for dot net under a free license.
