For me, I've always loved that part in the middle of Black by Pearl Jam;

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,

I know you'll be a star

In somebody else's sky

But why

Can't it be mine

Most of Pearl Jam would be a good answer, imo.

Yeah. Nothingman really had an impact on me for a while there.

Speaking of Pearl Jam, Rearviewmirror is a lyrical masterpiece, as "strong" as it can get in my opinion!

Maybe it's cliche, I'm not sure, but growing up and finding Dark Side of The Moon in your father's record collection really leaves a profound impact on your life with songs like Time:

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town

Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking

Racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Music is fun to listen to but it's obviously best when it actually speaks to you.

For far too long

we have been your slaves

paying off the debt

for the money you didn't have

but you just made

with all your dirty lies

and your filthy greed

silver bullet's gonna come around

and give you just what you need

Come on,hey man, I'm talking to you

just walk away

walk away

walk away

from what they have made

Your just victims of cult

tripping on a foundation

that you have laid

Silver bullet's gonna come around

and give you just what you need

I'm sorry Mr. Morgan

But we have to let you go

let you go

How do you like the morgue?

Just die.

I've got a bad disease

the kind that makes me sick

freedom hating sycophants

and ****ing spelling Nazi pricks

You got you tv, you Iphone and video games

you dial into the network

so they can take your names

and I think that you like it?

Come on

I used to think this the land of the free

but I can see that nobody cares

blinded by fear

you can't see the truth about money as debt

neck deep in sheep ****.

It slides, down the back of your head

you think your eating steak

but your just eating off the dead

You got no governments

you only got central banks

coughing up your slave wadges

so they can kill with their tank

and I think that you like it?

Come on

I used to think this the land of the free

but I can see that nobody cares

blinded by fear

you can't see the truth about money as debt

neck deep in sheep ****.

Yaaaaaaa!!!!!!come on!

My songs carry a big stick...

Who is your savior, who will save you now?

Your words been spoken, buried in the ground

Silent and still without a sound

A stranglehold has been placed on your wings

You would if you could, but you cant reach down inside

Everything good systematically been denied

As the evil empire eats you alive, you say to yourself

God,

You picked one hell of a day

to die

Oh no not again, oh not again

Silent and still without a sound

Slowly demons unfold their wings

You would if you could but theres a feeling inside

Everything good slowly has died

As the evil vampires, as they suck you dry

You say to yourself, you picked one hell of a day

You would if you could but your hands have been tied

What can not burn, slowly been fried

As the evil empire eats you alive,

You say to yourself, you picked one hell of a day

We are the legion

And we shall be forever and ever

Always forever

And we shall not surrender, never

We shall be the ones

Who look down on you N.W.O

bastards, and were gonna be the ones that say

Its one hell of a day

To be

Alive

There's a few songs that have lyrically moved me. Admittedly I don't listen to music for lyrics that often so I'm not that well versed. But...

John Lennon's - God - "God is a concept, in which we measure our pain." paired with the music, it's really powerful.

Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' is great all around.

A Perfect Circle's 'Orestes', 'The Noose' and Tool's 'Gravity' are pretty dark but thought provoking.

Candy Says by the Velvet Underground is a song about a transvestite that had grown to hate herself.

Jeffrey Lewis is an indie singer songwriter that is hit or miss, but when he's on point - he's on point. Here's Everyone's Honest.

A couple of months ago

I was out drinking with an old friend of mine

What did he say to me

He said he’d like to curse his ex girlfriend just one time

And that everyone’s honest eventually

A bunch of years ago I got taken

By someone who said that shed get me stuff for free

Lots of talk, sweet molasses backstage passes

But everyone’s honest eventually

Summers gone again

Watch the leaves in tonkin square

Just cause nothing equals nothing

Doesn’t mean everything is fair

I knew a guy who was trying hard to never lie

He knew the bible a-to-z

He prayed before bed at night

And thought that he was living right

But everyone’s honest eventually

A friend of mine in Brooklyn was doing heroin

And then he told me that he’d gone clean

It’s all the same to me

What you do with your body

Everyone’s honest eventually

Fall is here again

Watch the leaves in tonkin square

Better put your mittens on

I hear its getting cold out there

I try to live my life just like I’d always pictured it

Become my own self-fulfilling prophecy

Set my sights low so I don’t feel like I have far to go

But everyone’s honest eventually

I had a girl who screwed around with someone else

She let me know almost immediately

And as soon as I found out

I treated her like a broken toy and threw her out

That’s what she got for being honest

Winters here again

No more leaves in tonkin square

Old men walk in circles

They cant find me anywhere

Sometimes when I meet new people

I try too hard to be friendly

Sometimes I try too hard to be cool

They say its horrible to be living a lie

But I’ve also heard it said that nothing is true

Winter never came

Ain’t no more old men in tonkin square

They say its horrible to live a lie

Then they say that nothing is true

What can you do if nothing is true?

Just between me and you

You’re better off not thinking it through

Not thinking it through
