tl;dr version win10 is never spying on you. and when it does it's for your own good. and your data is safe because they are kept on the internets anyway

I also felt the article had a very naive feeling to it. IT experts rampaging over Win10's unclearly defined data mining practices? Yeah whatever, it's all harmless and for your own good.

I feel that everytime someone talk about the privacy problem of win10, it is either one extreme or the other... It's now just a war between "meh microsoft is good, it's not google, your data are safe and you can trust them" and "omg! microsoft is evil, worse than google! they spy on you and sell all your data! go linux!".

They are both wrong... and argumenting with any of them is damn impossible ><

Everything would have been just fine of Microsoft started with a big opening screen:

We are proud to give you this new Windows 10 that protects your privacy in the every core of the OS, however if you give up a bit of your privacy then we can enhance your user experience

But they went with this instead:

We are going to disrespect your privacy and sell everything we find on this computer to the highest bidder. The law requires us to give you options to disable this spying but we are going to make it hard to find them

Oh of coarse Microsoft can do no wrong. When they spy on you it's for your own good! Big brother Microsoft is just looking out for you right?

The rule of an OS is to protect you from the outside world.

It is not intended to share your wife's nude pictures to everyone on your contact list!
