Someone remind me, I recognize the name ManWithoutAModem from somewhere, I feel like he was in (at least) one other major story recently. Anyone got anything?

it doesnt matter. reddit is finished. i predict that, by the end of 2015, the vast majority of users will have migrated away to other sites.

i will never visit reddit again.

reddit is a website that has turned to liquid shit over the past two years, and the sooner its dead the better.

I still visit for smaller subreddits where the SRSness can't really be stuck in as well, like Justrolledintotheshop, various tech subreddits (sysadmin, talesfromtechsupport, programming, programmerhumor, etc) and other things where the censorship can't be applied and will probably never make it into there. If it did, the communities would quickly run to a new site.

The fact that you remained cordial throughout the entire conversation is commendable. That "mod" is horrendous at his "job" and should be removed from power everywhere for exhibiting that kind of unacceptable behavior.

It can be a strain at times, but the key is to take a step back and ask yourself if it's really worth it getting emotionally invested in some idiot's opinion on a random website. There are idiots everywhere in life, and you alone are responsible for how you let yourself react.

Besides, there've been times when I've gone into a conversation like that with one very clear impression and, because I didn't escalate the situation, ended up having a real discussion and leaving with new information and/or my mind changed. Reddit would be a far better place if everyone tried doing that.

You're absolutely right. People have a bad habit of getting defensive and allowing their emotions to take control. I'm guilty of this from time to time, and I realize I'd be a better person if I approached all situations like you did with that mod.

Yeah, I don't see how that goes against their subreddit rules. they just take offense to having to explain themselves to a lowly user.

Holy shit, that is so uncalled for. "keep it filtered" what a fuckin power trip. This is exactly what I want to get away from.

This guy is clearly the equivalent of Ryulong on Wikipedia, if anyone was following that drama

I want to make it clear that /u/drumcowski has continually responded appropriately and helpfully during this, and I had some additional communication with him that I won't share to avoid embroiling him in drama. He also voluntarily reversed the ban /u/ManWithoutAModem rather vindictively created--not that I intend to participate in that subreddit, having had such a bad experience there.

http://redditlist.com/ - This shows the most popular subreddits. I keep track as best I can of the moderators in the ones I really like. I can say with absolute honesty that I have watched a handful of mods and their alt accounts take over up and rising subreddits, purely to make them shittier.

Is MWaM an SRD mod? I really don't know what the deal is. There might be something more going on, and maybe he was vindictive and confrontational because the mods may be dealing with backlash over the "SRS cabal" thing.
