Another idea: How about limiting the number of subs a user can create/moderate to 1, and requiring a number of comment participation points for each additional sub (to a maximum of 5 or 10 subs).

That kinda sucks :(
People would make alts to get around it too.

yea, but doing it that way takes a bit more effort, compared to just being able to do it all without limits from the same account. Especially because each brand new account has no participation points, thus limited functionality (up/downvote).
I'm just thinking of ways to use the 'barrier / filter' of the participation points to try to reduce the issue of people controlling too many subs

I don't like the idea of banning anyone outright, but perhaps mods could flag a user as an troll/instigator and then individual users visiting that sub could toggle whether to include/exclude people who are flagged?
That would allow each user to treat each sub they visit as either a bouncy house or a wild west saloon depending on their personal preference.

Would be a tad difficult if the name of the poster was offensive.

This was acknowledged in the post and suggested that a reason for the edit be made and mandatory.

Forced transparent mod actions would be nice as well, as an option maybe, maybe also the reason for deletion could be an optional thing for the mod to tag to the removal/etc, so the user(s) could see the logic in modding.
