The US had a big part in inventing the Internet, but the one who took the final step and put the World Wide Web online was a British scientist working for a Swiss research institute.

The internet isn't really any one invention. It's just a bunch of computers (read: most computers) connected up to each other. Any claim to the invention of the internet is highly spurious.

Internet is a connection of two or more computer networks, which began in american universities.

Even if it was that simple that's hardly an invention of anything. In any case, there's a blurry line between connecting two networks together, and adding new computers to the network.
