Lol if were talking about shoulds and coulds, a first world nation shouldn't have anyone that needs help. Alas there isn't any focus on that, just stealing from someone else is apparently the only solution.
You're right in this point and you've effectively admitted the need for better leadership
Not in the least.
because as we can clearly see with the amount of people unemployed, below the poverty line, all the people going into debt over health issues and even avoiding getting care due to the cost, etc etc. that the current system ISN'T working and hasn't for a long time.
Each and every one of these problems is caused by government intrusion into the market. Yet, the only answers ever touted as "sane" is more government intrusion. When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything begins to look like nails.
How do you propose your system to work if you need everyone successful enough that they have the money to afford to take care of themselves and their family without the assistance of social programs? It sounds like the sorry excuse for a system that is implemented now in US, just without everyone being able to support themselves properly
Why is it that I must defend my stance? Where mine is open to conjecture as to what it will bring, as it has yet to be tried, the results of statism are real and factual. There has been no greater terror unleashed on this earth that the state. It is you who should have to defend the status quo, and why we should go further down the rabbit hole.
From whom are you suggesting that it is being proposed to steal from? If you're referring to the taxation of the rich then just as everyone else has to pay taxes to support the system they live in then they need to as well, the problem being they are generally greedy and hang onto every penny and then dodge the taxes they are supposed to pay like everyone else.
So its greedy to want to hang on to your hard earned money, but it isn't greed driven when you vote for a guy who literally says, "I will tax these people and then give you [insert benevolent gift]."

Do you not realize the cognitive dissidence here?
