This is highly misleading article, the original study says NOTHING about effects of secular upbringing. If you don't believe me here is ungated link to the study.

It is a study of relationship between racism and religiosity.

If you wanted to study how secular and religious parents influence their children's racial attitudes you would need to have data on the racial attitudes of the parents. And if you wanted to know whether that influence was genetic or upbringing you would need to have data on genes.

Genetics has nothing to do with it. The only way genetics would come into play is if there were a brain abnormality or history or schizophrenia, which would automatically eliminate the family as viable participates for 'average' families. (Unless they link religion to schizophrenia... Or abnormal brains... Structurally.)

It would have everything to do with religion. And even a generalized study is a launching point for further, more in depth studies. Especially since religious people are screaming about supposed persecution....

I swear i feel like my childhood would have been a whole lot better if i was told their is no god, and that their is no special plan made out for you already. I always felt like an outsider and awkward because i wanted to believe so bad, and i wanted to be like everybody else. I was a depressed kid because of "god"!

Im so happy now that i got educated and grew up and am now doing my own research.

This is how I hope to raise my children when I have them and fortunately my GF is with me on this for the most part. She still has some traditional Chinese beliefs though which make about as much sense as some religions but at least they don't force it down other people's throats.

This just in! Raising children without instilling insane phobias and unreasonable psychobabble may be better for them...

Really?

Interesting Article. Do we have any numbers from Europe? Since they have a majority of nones I wonder what their statistics look like. Off the top off my head the US has way more people in jail, which seems consistent with the articles point.
