How do you know something's worth until after you've watched it? Also, nervous producers go for safe (boring) things like remakes.
I'm halfway arguing for argument's sake, but I'm not in love with paying monthly for a service that I may or may not have time to watch, nor the well, I guess that review was good, here's 5 dogecoins, 'gee I hope I like it' model.
If I, say watched an episode with commercials and then decided it was worth it to spend x to watch it ad free that is something I would entertain, but really? Fuck me, I'll watch some ads if I can watch a whole season/movie for free.

Well, I guess I wasn't thinking of media in terms of paying only for what I consumed, I was thinking of a subscription type service. I am in love with Netflix. I pay a fair fee and consume what they offer with no ads. This is good for me. Youtube on the other hand is not good for me.

A hybrid would be great for me. Watch for free with ads, if you don't want ads, pay a fee for what you're about to watch.
I think black mirror had an episode like that actually, but you couldn't turn off the media.
