tough one, i know, but i might humbly suggest that you access his quality of life from his point of view, as best you can, and if it's that bad, then you'll know what to do

if you decide to treat him, i might suggest looking here for potential remedies

I think his quality of life is high. He's energetic, he seems pretty happy, he wags his tail a lot. He's acting just like he always does. Now that he's gotten used to the blindness he hardly seems any different at all. The vet thinks his eyesight might be fixable. He still has a few good years left in him. If I thought he was suffering I would put him down.

If you're concerned about how he's acting, you might want to consider an emergency vet, but it's probably going to cost an arm and a leg. If you're flushing out his eyes, I'd also recommend that you use saline solution instead of tap water - that stuff stings my eyes if it gets into them during a shower.

Might be an eye infection. Also I think as long as he got his dose of insulin right today any over/under dose would be canceled out, I'm don't know anything about animal diabetes only a little about human.

Did you flush his eyes with regular tap water? Because that might irritate them a bit. Use saline eye drops instead.

The fact that he did freak out about the shot is a warning sign. It might be anything from grumpiness or a skin infection to kidney or liver problems. Just tell the vet about all of it and he/she can take some blood tests and check the skin.

I think he freaked out about the shot because a few nights back when we gave him a shot we did something wrong. We're not sure what. Perhaps we went too deep, or we caught a nerve or a bruise. But he yiped for the first and only time that evening. He's been a little skiddish since, but he's only jerked away once, and that was last night. He was fine this morning, shot-wise.
