I'm building my alternative-tech copy-pasta. Anyone have a base I can work from?
Internet search is key, and so I'm compiling some short instructional videos and howto images to do basic research and fact-check for yourself.
Also, an introduction to "dark web" with the most feasible jump-start to finding hidden services that I was able to come up with. Help here is welcomed.
I'll post it all to /whatever and /tech when it's ready.

That'd be great, thanks! I plan to copy/paste into a PDF or word doc so I have in on my computer should the 10 days of darkness actually occur. I don't have much tech ability so anything you post will be very helpful to me personally. As far as VOAT goes, I expect it to go down. Hell, a lot of the time it's down without anything else going on in the world so I don't think it's exactly a leap to expect it to happen.

You need to include sci-hub.se (and mirrors) for research! How to locate DOI on preview of articles to copy paste into scihub for full text (sometimes it is obvious, others it is nor labelled or you have to click 'show more' to see it.
How to find original source documents and what are original source and secondary source.

How to use and locate archive libraries (usually pretty straight forward I think, "ask a librarian" is usually the best option if you are stuck".)

Another good tip is knowing the structure of your government, what department looks after what, as sometimes it is not obvious, especially when two departments overlap. Government websites can be (purposefully) heinous, search bars don't always work as they should, so how to find and use a sitemap...there must be a way to find one on a website using a third-party website or browser add on or something, as I've noticed as the search bars and menus become less usable the sitemap link at the bottom of websites is becoming rarer.

So my next logical thought is: say Voat replaces Google as the worlds number one search engine...?
What results would some of the normal daily search terms get? "Weather today" or "how to ******" come to mind.

Today’s weather is sunny and bright. A great day to go maskless and show off your glorious face tan.

Google is a place to look for curated information, search suggestions, and filtered results.
The "view cached version" can be surprisingly usesful though.

Well, it's still early. Hopefully putt fed the hamster that's powering the server.

It's subsisting entirely on his desiccated remains.

I think he gave the hamster a break and is using a gerbil for the time being.
