Wrong, the subsequent generations struggled against anti-Catholic bigotry of all forms (rivaling even anti-black sentiment in some areas)! Rather than playing the victim card though, Catholics got busy building an incredible system of schools and hospitals, throughout the entire country. Local Catholics banded together to build churches everywhere -- many per square mile, in the cities, as all different ethnic immigrant populations arrived, fleeing from outright persecution (e.g., in Ireland, England, Germany, etc.), and for many years, the Church has helped America become and remain healthy, moral, and strong. This is why people like Antonio Gramsci (an Italian communist) recognized her as an obstacle to seizing the West, and he encouraged communists to infiltrate Western institutions -- churches, universities, schools, etc., to gain control from inside and twist them to their own purposes. We reap the effects of that infiltration now, however there have been and continue to be faithful and patriotic Catholics fighting these evils on many fronts.
If you care at all about the health of America, faithful Catholics should be supported in this struggle, as should those fighting against secular humanism in the schools, media, entertainment, and all Western institutions.
