Yes it is a save your life confessional.

God is not the God of dead men.

"In those days, men will seek death and death will elude them"...

The Bible makes it clear. Suicide might kill the body, but you will not escape judgement.

Whoa! Thanks for that, very neat!

Hadn't fully parsed those words, but you're exactly right: those who are "seeking death" want to commit suicide, and something powerful is preventing them.

I figured it meant "bodies stop dying for a little while" -- but it could be as you wrote instead; they ARE able to commit suicide, but their journey doesn't end at death and in fact gets a lot worse if your death is at your own hand.

My sister committed suicide in 07. She was four years younger than me and my only sibling.

I had several people tell me in the weeks following her suicide that the Bible says she condemned her soul to Hell by taking her own life. That anyone committing suicide goes to Hell.

I have lost and continue to lose endless hours of sleep as I lay awake nights contemplating those words.

Only God knows the pain and suffering, both physically and mentally that ultimately drives a person to end their life.

My sister was born with a life threatening condition and had major surgery at 3 days old. It saved her life but led to many complications. She was constantly hospitalized throughout her life and had to endure far too many surgeries. Constant pain and addiction to pain killers left her exhausted. She ended her life at 39 years old, just hours after learning she had to have yet another surgery.

I realize the Bible is addressing the end times through that scripture but many people believe those who commit suicide go to Hell.

I don't know. I trust God no matter what.

Exactly. As Q says, you can't escape God.

Those that want to save the tax payers some money, still have to answer to God.

Apologies for my compression: yes, they do. And, Romans 10:9 explains how to avoid the pit.
