Of course they got orders.
The thing is, when a cop is acting beyond their authority, they lose any legal protections they have as officers. And yes, that can lead to a situation forcing police to respond and arrest their fellow officers. (Best case is a gamble that the responding officers would do the right thing).
Not quite related, but knew a guy years ago that got arrested fleeing cops, the female arresting officer gave him a fish hook and he nearly bit off the officers fingers. In court they did not have evidence to convict on the original charge, and the judge told the officer about assaulting an officer charge that "when you started showing off for your friends you stopped acting as an officer and don't have that protection."

Very satisfying to see these videos coming out of NY. I work at a school in Dutchess County (NY) and a couple of days ago I overheard a conversation in the breakroom where a group of 4 coworkers were talking about the election, essentially saying "theres something fishy going on" and questioning why none of the news networks are covering the fraud accusations. One of them pointed out the incredible size of trump's rallies vs biden's gatherings. Sometimes it can feel pretty lonely in NY, nice to think this state is finally waking up!

Cops had so much support. Then they do this crap.
