to get you going again, the point is: if those dangerous places on earth can't be managed well, why bother trying somewhere that is years' travel time away? It takes a day or less to get from anywhere to anywhere on the planet now, and we can't maintain in those areas.
The answer to “why bother” lies in the DNA of those who explore, the evolution that quickens in is all somehow, the cool ass tech and techniques we pick up. Look up what technology the space industry has given mankind already, and you’ll be surprised...
if we can't survive in space we can't develop much of anything though. and we can simulate lots of extreme conditions on earth that will help survive there, assuming it's even possible

Space is a pipe dream that this point. You can say it's inevitable but honestly, we have our own problems to solve on earth first before we can ever go to space.
