Havent drank or smoked pot in 5 months now, and got back into weight lifting, heavy squats, deadlifts, military presses, benching, and back rows 3x a week, 500 calories under TDEE.
You've substituted one (two - that pot thing was out of left field) addiction for another here.

Does tongue punching your mums fartbox also count as another addiction

Just how fat and lazy are you to call working out an addiction? He's only doing it three times a week!
[–] capnflummox ago (edited ago)
If the word 'vice' makes you feel better about it, use that.
My statement above is not wrong. It's an addiction (vice).

The demon brew is a bastard...
But if you can control it and yourself it's a lot of fun...
Glad you did what you needed to do..

Alcoholic here, only a year into it. Some nights it's a full 750ml bottle, some nights it's a few shots, most nights it's between 1/4 and 1/2 a bottle. I know I'm physically addicted because one day several months ago I hit withdrawals after not drinking any alcohol for a few days. Until I saw this post I was planning on cold turkey-ing it next month when I get to take my first vacation in over a year. Guess I need to either extend my vacation with sick days or try another way... Unfortunately, I'm an employee at the only medical corporation in town, so if I'm forced to hospitalize myself for alcohol withdrawal I'll probably loose my job. I only drink at night after my shift, but I don't think that will matter to my bosses.
Congrats on your sobriety and thanks for the warning, niggerfaggotchad.

Switch to beer or wine for a few weeks. Much harder to dose yourself heavily. Then go down a drink at a time till you’re at 2 or 3 a night. You can go cold turkey at that point.
You can do it. Just think of those corporate cunts getting rich off your poisoning, laughing all the way to the bank. Can you picture it? Someone is a billionaire on misery like yours. Millions of dumb goys like us. When that starts to make you angry, you will quit.

Something you must know and distinguish if you are to be successful long term.
Physical dependence is real, and in extreme cases can be somewhat dangerous.
However, 'addiction' is made up bullshit as are the terms 'alcoholism' and 'alcoholic'.
Drinking and/or drugging ARE A CHOICE, A BAD BEHAVIOR, not a symptom of some disease. There is no disease involved.
If you don't learn this, you will fail. Period. Quite possible by necking yourself or literally drinking your self to death.
Avoid the disease concept like the plague of death that it is. Rooted in 12 step programs and the like it is a recipe for suicide.

Yes, calling it a 'disease' is fake and gay, getting high or drunk is a choice. Millions have chosen to quit. One cannot choose to stop having a real disease like cancer.

1/4 bottle is about 4 servings. Most people can drop a daily habit of four servings without much withdrawal. Eight servings a day is a whole other ball game. If you can keep it at four servings for a week or two before quitting you will likely only see anxiety as the primary withdrawal symptom. You can get a short term prescription from your doctor to help with that. You’re looking for something like Xanax or another benzodiazepine (Do not take these pills for more than a week. They are more addictive than alcohol and have worse withdrawal symptoms). You can visit your regular primary care physician before hand and simply tell them that you’re going to stop drinking and are worried about withdrawal. You’ve got about a 50-50 chance of the doctor handling it well as some are used to dealing with this and others aren’t.

Thanks, and I hope the best for your planned recovery goat, I hope you get the help you need, I learned that PAWS(post acute withdrawal syndrome) for alcohol can be the worst out of all addictions, so I would definitely suggest some professional medical help to get the right detox meds and maybe detox using your sick days or vacation days, like another poster here was saying about the hallucinations, they were so bad for me I couldn't differentiate between them and reality for a few days. I saw people that weren't there, and was even interacting with them, I had huge lapses in memory like extreme short term memory loss, I could only remember things from my childhood, and other scary things, it felt like I was in hell or purgatory. Not trying to scare anyone, as I probably had extreme symptoms due to my ptsd from the war and with how long I was drinking for, but I managed to skate by with proper treatment and detox when I started experiencing my psychosis.

Hallucinations were the worst part. I was completely convinced that shadow demons were coming to get me while I lay on the bathroom floor. That stuff is evil. It's good to hear you beat it.
[–] Blurnaldblurmpf [S] 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Some of the hallucinations I had were people's faces literally morphing into demonic caricatures, I can completely relate, I like to call the DTs devil triggers now, it felt like a purgatory or hell with some of the shit I remember.
The whole experience has given me a newfound connection to God, who I believe helped me through. Its cool if others don't wanna believe, but the spirituality of it helped me through and many others.
Now imagine when you die you see similar demonic faces. In Buddhism they tell you to expect it. In some realms of the dying process you are plagued by a constant stream of demonic faces scaring the bejesus out of you. A master will realize these images are nothing more than projections of their own mind and casually sail through them. Good on you for quitting. Consider taking up meditation to help you continue.

Good on ya, man.
This recent post election bs has motivated me to unquit, but I never got quite that out of hand. Still, all that wholesome stuff sounds like excellent advice that we all should follow, regardless.
