Given the tools look like they could be overwhelming to anybody who hasn't played around with game making toolkits before, I can understand not wanting to throw people in the deep end. But giving us the option to skip the tutorial week entirely would be nice too.

I'm in the same boat, but it does seem like such an ass backwards way of easing people into it. Why not just base it on playtime instead of actual days?

I dunno why not. Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo, but when they do the hand-holding thing it tends to be the goddamned worst.
One particularly egregious example: one time, I brought Nintendo Land over to a friend's place so we and some other folks could play some 5-player games (really fun stuff by the by.) Well, they didn't have a save file, so instead we intermittently got piping-hot forced tutorial dropped into our laps for the worse part of 45 minutes.

So it annoyed people with Xbox's Killer Instinct, so Nintendo will do the same thing. I think it really hurt the Killer Instant brand as people got fed up and lost interest. Do they really think this is a good idea?
Sorry, you will not find out if the Princess is in this castle till tomorrow.
