Finally! So refreshing hear or read something that makes sense again.

This used to be normal in the midwest. So did schools closing for the first week of deer season (because none of the boys would be there anyway).

And brought firearms to school, for hunting on the way home. A different world.

Hanging in the back window of their pickups.

Should be done everywhere. It would save a lot of lives.

Unfortunately they had to lose a kid a year ago in an accident before it was pushed for. Hopefully this becomes normal again. I know my grandparents had this when they were in school. They even had a shooting team, 22lr rifle and pistol as well as shotgun. I would rather students take gun safety and hunter safety classes and be able to join shooting teams than half the crap that is required of them, like mandatory volunteering.

But this will rob them of time to learn to put condoms on cucumbers

I remember my father telling me 35 years ago that school should be doing this. When my brother and I were maybe 8 or 9 years old he showed us how to safely handle a firearm. He specifically told us what to do if we were ever at a friend's house and they brandished a gun.

I hope they are not shut down by well funded loonies.

Maybe they will try, now that it is national news. Only positive feedback so far, and knowledge prevents stupidity (in most cases). Imo, that is a parents responsibility anyway, but good info needs repetition. Cheers!

Couldn't agree more. I am excited to see this and hope the idea spreads . Safety (& shooting) used to be in school's curriculum decades ago.
